Dr. Cary Franklin Camp (67) of Munford, Alabama passed away on December 21, 2019. He was born on October 4, 1952 in Talladega, Alabama to the late Dr. Ashley L. Camp, Jr. and Mrs. Leta Knight Camp. The family will receive friends and family on Monday, December 23, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Usrey Brown Funeral Home in Talladega, Alabama. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 24, at 11:00 am, also at Usrey Brown Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mr. Dave Burgess, Dr. Nathaniel Camp, Dr. Burt Chappell, Mr. Steve Cook, Mr. Jeremy Reynolds, Mr. Jim Swafford, Mr. Roy Swafford, and Mr. Mike Unger. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery following the funeral service. Dr. Camp graduated from Munford High School in 1971. He continued his education at Jacksonville State University prior to attending Palmer College of Chiropractic and from there received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1976. Dr. Camp returned from Iowa to Alabama and began practicing chiropractic with his father, Dr. Ashley L. Camp, Jr..Together they learned from one another and served the community for 17 years. After his father’s death in 1993, Dr. Cary continued caring for the community he knew and loved for another 26 years. On March 4, 1983, Dr. Camp was blessed by the birth of his daughter, Cara. She brought him much joy as through the years they shared many father-daughter activities and interests including family trips, musical events, and attending live performances. In 2009 Dr. Camp’s attention was captured by one about whom he said, “I could see her sweetness from across the room”. On December 18, 2010 that sweet Annette became his wife. Together they loved and cared for one another and for their families. He shared with both of these loves of his life his enthusiasm for movies, music, theater, studying the Bible, and aerospace. Dr. Camp was also known for his sense of humor and readily shared his hearty laughter with friends and family. Dr. Camp is survived by his spouse, Annette Camp, daughter, Cara Camp, stepson, Glenn Lackey Jr., brother, Dr. Bruce Camp (Sandi), nephew, Dr. Nathaniel Camp (Christina), nieces, Ashley Davis (Will) and Kayde Reynolds (Jeremy), mother-in-law, Maggie Hales, two sisters-in law, Regena Cook (Steve) and Sherry Unger (Mike) and other friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Ashley L. Camp Jr., mother, Leta Knight Camp, brother, Ashley L. Camp III, infant daughter, Shirley Camp, and infant son Christopher Camp.
