Obituary of Carey D. Chappell

Talladega – Carey D. “C. D.” Chappell passed away April 19, 2021. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega with Doug Whaley and Andy Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. His family will receive friends at Usrey prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. As a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, “C. D.” was well known and loved by the community. He was a retired detective from the Talladega Police Department and worked for the Talladega County Sherriff’s office, he was an avid golfer and Alabama football fan. He had a life that was “well lived”. His survivors include his wife, Sue Chappell; his daughter’s, Sherri Chappell and Paige Rouss; his son’s, Jason Chappell, Mark Chappell and Matt Chappell; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Current and past officers of the Talladega Police Department and the Talladega County Sherriff’s Office will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be C. D.’s golfing friends.
