The loss of Uncle Roger brings profound sadness to all who knew him, a man whose great spirit effortlessly combined tenderness, laughter, wisdom and honesty. His selfless nurturing of TJ revealed an innate generosity and strength that endeared him to us all. His departure leaves a void no words can adequately express. May his memories continue to inspire love and respect in our hearts.

I arrived to the USS Preble DLG-15 in 1966 and ended up in the after fireroom where I met Roger for the first time. I had the pleasure of serving and learning from him till Feb of '69 when she was put into the yards in Philly. He was a great person and I shall never forget my time serving with him.
