Kathryn Plunkett Kendrick, 89, was called to her eternal home by her Heavenly Father on the morning of January 3, 2024. Mrs. Kendrick was born in Walker County, Alabama on May 27, 1934, and was married to her sweetheart, William Lawton Kendrick for 60 years, 11 months, and 25 days. She was a long-time resident of Ashville, Alabama, and an active and much-loved member of Ashville First Baptist Church. She spent many years serving as secretary of several Baptist churches in Jefferson and St. Clair Counties. Prior to her retirement, she served as the secretary of the St. Clair Baptist Association in Ashville, Alabama. Mrs. Kendrick was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Lawton Kendrick; her parents, Ellie and Willie Plunkett, brothers, Willard Plunkett, Harlan Plunkett, and Robert Plunkett; sister, Bernice Short; nephews, Mack Short and Kenneth Short; nieces, Kaye Short and Sundra Plunkett; son-in-law, Ken Lunsford; and several cousins. She is survived by her children, Melanie Tatasciore of Birmingham, Alabama, Melinda Lunsford of Ashville, Alabama, and David (Christy) Kendrick of Rainbow City, Alabama; grandchildren, Michaelann (Adam) Courington of Moody, Alabama, Jesse Lunsford and Benjamin Lunsford of Ashville, Alabama; Hunter Limbaugh of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Kaileigh Kendrick of Rainbow City, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Emily Courington and Rain Courington of Moody, Alabama; Keira Alexander and Kenneth Alexander of Gallant, Alabama, and Lawton Kai Lunsford of Gallant, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; and her tremendously loved pup, Coco. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City on Friday, January 5, 2024, with Pastor Nathan Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at St. Clair Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund at Ashville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 579, Ashville, Alabama 35953.
