Obituary of Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Baker

Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Baker, 76, of Pell City, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. Mr. Baker possessed an unwavering work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit and was the owner and operator of Baker Foods, Inc. In addition to his professional achievements, he was an honorary graduate of Auburn University, a testament to his intellectual curiosity and pursuit of knowledge. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, he served his country as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army for four years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmon and Dorothy Baker, and by his sister, Shirley Baker. Ronnie is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Doris Baker; son, Richard Baker (Krista); daughter, Elicia Matthews (Dave); grandchildren, Haley Baker, Emory Matthews, and Dylan Matthews; and sister, Stella Iliff. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City on Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Usrey Funeral Home - Pell City, followed by committal at Valley Hill Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Dewain Wesson, Chris Pirtle, Wayne Johnsey, Richard Seagle, Don Stacks, and Ronald Crim. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Martin, Chris Wesson, Tim Lowry, Scott Abernathy, Larry Smith, and Patrick Poore. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either Four Corners Ministries (www.fourcorners.org) or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org). Condolences may be offered online at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Pell City is assisting the family.
