Obituary of J. Timothy Nelson

Mr. J. Timothy Nelson, 65, of Odenville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, after a long battle with kidney failure. He was married for 43 years to his beloved wife, Susan Nelson, and was a loving father to his children, Shanna Welbourne and Austin Nelson (Kaitlin). Tim is also survived by his grandchildren, Brooke Welbourne, Lily Nelson, Khloe Nelson, and Conner Nelson; sisters, Sue McLaughlin and Joyce Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tim was a member of Son Rise Baptist Church. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the dedicated team at DCI for their compassionate care during Tim’s illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladis Nelson; brothers, Ottis Nelson and Robert “Theo” Nelson III; and sisters, Lorraine Nelson, Thelma Whisenhunt, and Kay Peoples. The family will receive friends at Usrey Funeral Home – Pell City from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with Bro. Lester Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Low Gap Cemetery.
