Garry Lee Hunter, age 48, a native of Gadsden, AL, born on October 13, 1975 was called home after a battle with cancer on April 09 ,2024 at his home in Lincoln surrounded by his loving wife, children and family. A funeral ceremony will be held in his honor at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Westside Baptist Church with Jeff Duncan officiating. His family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service. Garry Lee Hunter was a family man and loved by many. He was a loving husband, father, and brother. His entire world revolved around his family, which he supported unconditionally with faith, love and guidance. Lee Hunter was also a veteran firefighter who spent his career serving people he had never met. He was hired in 2005 by Talladega Fire and Rescue and faithfully served the citizens of Talladega for 19 years up until 2023. During his 19 year career he also served the citizens of Sylacauga with the Sylacauga Fire Department. He attended and graduated Pell City Fire Academy in 2006 which is accredited through the Alabama Fire College. During his career he attended numerous training classes accredited through the Fire College so he could be the best firefighter he could be for his brothersworking alongside him and the citizens he served. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, wood working—including building his house and furniture—and gaming with his daughters. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary R. Hunter; maternal grandparents, Carl E. and Dorothy F. Robinson; paternal grandparents, Herman R. and Myrtice C. Hunter, and a host of aunts and uncles. Mr. Hunter is survived by his wife, Tammy Hunter; daughters, Kaylee Lynn Hunter and Courtney Savannah Hunter; step-daughter, Stephanie Sieger (Tyler Howard); step-sons, Dawson Sieger and Brayden Dulaney; mother, Phyllis Carleen Chavez; grandchildren, Mackenzie Jane Howard, Aiden Michael Howard, and Maddox River Dulaney and his mother, Haley Haynes; brother, Adam Hunter (Kelli); sisters, Traci Sims (Josh) and Misty Hunter; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Janie Webster; brothers-in-law, John Webster (Natalie Turner) and Brian Webster (Misty), and a host of nieces and nephews. The firemen of Talladega Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be offered at www.usreyfuneralhome.com. Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega is directing the service.
